Helping Afghan Girls Gain an Education
n 2008, several local leaders came to CFNJ to establish a fund to help young Afghan women achieve their dreams of attending high school or college in the US. The Afghan Girls Financial Assistance Fund was created and has already been successful in assisting several women with their education.
CASA’s “Pack with Pride” program wins a Nonprofit Innovation Award
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of New Jersey has been selected as a finalist in the Programs (small organizations) category in the inaugural NJBIZ Nonprofit Innovation Awards Program for their Duffel Bag Project that the Community Foundation of New Jersey raised funds for in late 2007.

ShopRite Fund Grants $1 Million to Neighborhood Charities
Our ShopRite Fund presented thirty-eight grants totaling $1 million to hospitals, food banks, educational institutions and other agencies working to aid individuals and their communities. The Fund was established by Wakefern Food Corporation, based in Elizabeth, to enable an efficient, neighborhood approach to philanthropy.
