Students Visit Atlantic County Park

June 12, 2017

Students from Dawes Avenue Elementary School recently visited the Atlantic County Park to learn about a variety of local wildlife.

“We learned about box turtles,” explained Brianna. “Boy box turtles have a groove dent on the bottom of their shell. Girl box turtles have a smooth shell on the bottom. Hummingbirds have a long beak. The tongue is white. The eggs are tiny. Cat birds meow like a cat. We went in a big forest.”

This field trip was made possible with a grant from Field Trip New Jersey, which takes students out of the classroom and into new places that awaken, hush, awe, enrich, or otherwise positively change their lives.
