The Warm Jacket Fund at the Community Foundation of New Jersey and the National Winter Activity Center are collaborating to make winter sports activities available to children who would not otherwise have regular access in under-served communities.

Kid SkiingBelow are some highlights of the program:

  • There is an eight student per chaperone ratio requirement on the mountain.
  • A maximum of 150 students can be transported at once to attend the session selected by the school.
  • Chaperones are not allowed to ski.
  • Two sessions will be offered at the school where the students will learn about “Skiers Code,” and get fitted for the equipment they will use during the season.
  • Student athletes will have five on-snow sessions at “The Center” to learn to ski.
  • We only provide healthy foods – nothing fried!
  • Student athletes will remain with the same coach/menton each week.
  • Every student will need to wear warm winter attire. The Center has donated snow jackets and pants on site that students can use during their session, if needed.
  • All equipment and snow attire used for the sessions must be returned at the end of each session for others to use.
  • To extend this opportunity to all schools, we are requesting that future participating schools contribute something to the cost of the transportation, chaperones and/or cost per student each year.
