Robert Doherty

Robert H. Doherty, New Jersey State President, Bank of America. (Aaron Houston NJBIZ)Robert Doherty is Senior Commercial Credit Manager – Healthcare, Education, Not For Profit for Bank of America. In that role he manages a team providing bank products and services to Healthcare Institutions, Higher Education, Cultural Institutions and Social Service Organizations. He previously served as Bank of America’s New Jersey State President, a role in which he integrated the bank’s local resources to deliver one company to customers and clients, and also provide community outreach, philanthropy and leadership within the New Jersey market.

Mr. Doherty previously served as Executive Vice President of Fleet Bank, a Bank of America predecessor bank, in charge of its Middle Market operations in New Jersey. Before that he was Senior Vice President and Commercial Banking Director for Wachovia Bank and also held positions at Citibank and Bankers Trust Company.

He is involved in a number of charitable organizations in New Jersey including the boards of Newark Museum of Art and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. Prior board affiliations have included long terms on the New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce, both on its Executive Committee and as Board Chair, The Community FoodBank of New Jersey, and many others. He was a founding member of Choose NJ.

Mr. Doherty holds an M.B.A. in finance and marketing from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business and earned a B.A. in economics from Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania.
