The Community Foundation of New Jersey (CFNJ) today congratulated the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) for making a $1.5 million grant to the NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee’s Snowflake Youth Foundation. The grant monies will be distributed to youth-oriented nonprofit organizations in New Jersey, each impacted by Hurricane Sandy.
CFNJ administers the Snowflake Youth Foundation’s funds on behalf of the NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee. The purpose of the Foundation is to harness the excitement of the Super Bowl XLVIII to raise critical funds to renovate and transform after-school facilities in the NY/NJ area that provide school-age boys and girls with safe and supervised recreational, educational, and character-building activities.
The first group of recipients of the Snowflake grant made possible by RWJF include:
- Boys and Girls Club of America
- Jersey Cares
- Kaboom
- Rahway Community Action Center
- Rahway Recreation Center
- Robert D. Wilson Memorial Community Center (Highlands)
- Toms River East High School
- YCS (Youth Consultation Service)
“The creation of the Snowflake Youth Foundation at CFNJ showed the Host Committee to be forward-thinking, as it allows them to positively impact New Jersey’s communities well beyond the Super Bowl,” said Hans Dekker, President of CFNJ. “We’re thrilled that one of our state’s most well-respected grantmakers, RWJF, is leveraging this partnership to make a meaningful difference from Rahway to Toms River and many places in between.”
