CFNJ Recognizes Scholarship Recipients at Annual Breakfast

August 20, 2013

The Community Foundation of New Jersey on Tuesday, July 30th recognized recipients of more than $1 million in total scholarship funds for the upcoming academic year.

Scholarship recipients, their families, and donors were invited to the annual Scholarship Breakfast, which is sponsored by RegentAtlantic Capital, LLC.  The Morristown-based firm – New Jersey’s largest fee-only investment advisor – worked with the Community Foundation on the event program and sent on its behalf wealth advisors Jeffrey Boyer and Amanda Lott who spoke to the students about smart financial habits and how best to manage their money while in college.

The event’s master of ceremonies was Dale Robinson Anglin, a member of the Community Foundation’s Board of Trustees and Chair of its Scholarship Committee.  Dale was instrumental in this year’s scholarship selection process and proved an engaging and informative speaker.

Kenneth C. MacKenzie, retired Judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey, also spoke to attendees and emphasized the importance of access to higher education.

“This year’s breakfast was a big success,” said Faith Krueger, the Community Foundation’s Chief Operating Officer and director of its scholarship program.  “RegentAtlantic does a terrific job providing a lesson in financial literacy to the attendees.  This is especially valuable to the students who, in many cases, are setting off on their own for the first time.”

The Community Foundation manages more than 100 scholarship programs totaling more than $17 million.  The programs are managed according to donors’ wishes or with the donors directly.  A separate, impartial Scholarship Committee is available to select recipients for many of the scholarships.

Any individual may create a scholarship fund at the Community Foundation with a minimum contribution of $25,000.  To learn more about the scholarships managed by the Community Foundation of New Jersey or to create your own, contact Faith Krueger at 973-267-5533.
