For a little over $30,000, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s office purchased 428 unwanted firearms at a two-day Monmouth County gun buyback. Asbury Park and Keansburg were the two locations where individuals could sell their weapons with no questions asked.

A fundholder at the Community Foundation of New Jersey helped sponsor the buyback, his fourth such sponsorship. Thanks to this fundholder’s efforts over four years, 2,500 guns have either been destroyed or, in the case of stolen weapons, returned to their owners.
