Gary Fisch Joins Community Foundation Board

January 3, 2017

The Community Foundation of New Jersey (CFNJ) today announced that Gary Fisch, the founder, owner, and president of Gary’s Wine and Marketplace, has joined its Board of Directors.

Fisch opened the original Gary’s Wine & Marketplace in Madison in 1987, followed by Gary’s Wine & Marketplace of Bernardsville in 2001. The flagship store opened in Wayne in April 2008, followed by the newest location in Hillsborough in June 2015. GarysWine.com serves as the online hub for the signature brand and offers shipping throughout the country.

Fisch’s dedication for providing extraordinary customer service, as well as inspiring and training his staff and fellow wine consumers, has been recognized by national and international media, including Fox Business News, CNN, CNBC, The New York Times, Market Watch, New Jersey Monthly magazine, The Star-Ledger, and USA Today.

“Gary brings tremendous retail and business savvy to the Community Foundation,” said Tom Uhlman, Chairman of the CFNJ Board of Trustees. “His passion for his business and continually satisfying a diverse audience of loyal customers will add a unique perspective to our Board and improve the ways in which we communicate our own offerings.”

Gary Fisch was named “Retailer of the Year 2014” by Market Watch. New Jersey Monthly readers voted Gary’s Wine & Marketplace “Best Wine Shop” in 2014. In 2015, Gary’s Wine & Marketplace was voted “Best Wine Shop” in the Wayne Magazine Reader’s Poll for the seventh year in a row.

“I’m very pleased to join the Community Foundation Board and give back to so many of the communities that support small businesses like mine,” said Fisch. “A strong community has as its lifeblood businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies that work together to make life better. The Community Foundation understands each part of that ecosystem and has the wisdom to invest philanthropic dollars where they have the greatest impact.”
