Gary’s Wine & Marketplace and Community Foundation Join Together to End Domestic Violence

October 1, 2017

As part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month this October, the Community Foundation of New Jersey and Gary’s Wine & Marketplace today announced their partnership to launch the “No More” campaign aimed at ending domestic violence and sexual assault in New Jersey.

During the month of October, Gary’s Wine & Marketplace will offer customers an opportunity to donate to the No More Fund – online or in-store at their Madison, Bernardsville, Wayne, and Hillsborough locations. The Community Foundation will match all contributions to the Fund and support effective interventions that are either providing education and resources to prevent domestic violence and sexual assault or supporting victims.

“Being part of the New Jersey community isn’t just something we do, it’s who we are,” said Gary Fisch, CEO and founder of Gary’s Wine & Marketplace. “We are honored to partner with the Community Foundation of New Jersey to raise awareness against Domestic Violence. We want our customers to know we stand with “No More.’”

In the United States, one in three women have experienced sexual assault or domestic violence at some point in their lives. One in six men have experienced sexual abuse before the age of 18. Roughly two out of three victims who come forward say no one helped them.

“The statistics show that domestic violence and sexual abuse are all around us, and there is more we can all be doing to not only share those facts, but also turn the tide” said Hans Dekker, president of the Community Foundation. “We’re grateful to Gary’s Wine & Marketplace for helping us raise awareness and, ultimately, support programs in New Jersey that are working to eliminate this scourge.”

About the Community Foundation of New Jersey

Since 1979, individuals and businesses have opened charitable funds at the Community Foundation of New Jersey to fulfill their charitable goals and craft their philanthropic legacies. These Legacy Funds and Donor Advised Funds have granted tens of millions of dollars each year, and enabled the Foundation to launch its own Changemaker Projects that are improving New Jersey and its dynamic communities. The Foundation’s funds currently hold over $400 million in charitable assets and made over 5,000 grants last year to charitable work in New Jersey and around the world.
