Giving opportunities in Ukraine

The crisis in Ukraine has many fundholders interested in giving to projects that will lessen the suffering of those on the ground. We are pleased to share the following organizations, all of which have been vetted by our staff and we are confident are achieving measurable results.

Tikva Children’s Home

As Ukraine is under attack, an emergency campaign is underway to assist Tikva Children’s Home in Odessa with evacuation and supply costs related to the safety of their children during these challenging times. Tikva – (translates from Hebrew to “Hope”) – is a successful 25-year old social service and educational organization in Ukraine that has saved thousands of abandoned, abused and orphaned Jewish children in the Odessa region of Ukraine.

Tikva operates 12 facilities that house nearly 300 children, school 900 children, provide meals and services to nearly a thousand elderly Jews (many of whom are Holocaust survivors) and provide community support though the synagogue, and its community centers.

While this worthwhile organization faces the unknown, Tikva’s emergency fundraising campaign will directly assist with covering the costs related to security, shelter, busing, food, water, medicine and supplies. The above photo, which we received late Sunday night, is a glimpse into the work Tikva is doing right now to evacuate these children from Odessa.

World Central Kitchen

World Central Kitchen (WCK) is serving thousands of fresh meals to Ukrainian families fleeing home as well as residents who remain in the country. Working at a 24-hour pedestrian border crossing in southern Poland, WCK began serving hot, nourishing meals within hours of the initial invasion and are now set up at multiple border crossings across the country. Additionally, WCK is supporting local restaurants preparing meals in Odessa and Lviv, two cities in Ukraine. WCK teams are also on the ground in Romania and arriving soon to Moldova, Slovakia, and Hungary to see how they can best support.

As the situation continues to evolve, WCK will continue to help in the best way they know how, with a freshly prepared plate of food—and they’re ready to expand their support for families in need.

Additional organizations

The International Rescue Committee is preparing to rush critical aid to displaced families.

Save the Children is right now on the ground, in the U.S. and around the world, delivering essential humanitarian aid.

Project HOPE is actively shipping essential medicines and medical supplies to affected areas in Ukraine.

Unfortunately, Doctors Without Borders was forced to halt its operations in Ukraine last week. You can, of course, still support their important work around the world.
