Fundholders at the Community Foundation of New Jersey are doing spectacular things across the philanthropic spectrum, initiating thousands of grants this year alone.
At the same time, we at the Community Foundation are granting out discretionary dollars with an eye toward effecting lasting change. And we know that if we’re going to ask you to join us in that effort, it better be work that moves the needle.
Our Leadership Committee coordinates closely with nonprofit organizations that have good ideas to fix broken systems and a track record of success. We invite you to join us in supporting these organizations’ good work:

Advocates for Children of New Jersey works with local, state and federal leaders to identify and implement changes that will benefit New Jersey’s children. ACNJ’s work results in better laws and policies, more effective funding and stronger services for children and families. This means more children are given the chance to grow up safe, healthy and educated.

The County College of Morris used CFNJ funding to support nursing education for students of color who need financial assistance to complete their requirements.

CUMAC’s mission is to fight hunger and its root causes through a holistic, trauma-informed approach that provides groceries and basic necessities to families and individuals in need.

Deirdre’s House provides critical services for child victims of abuse and/or neglect and for children that have witnessed violence. It is the only site in Morris County where a child victim can be interviewed and digitally recorded by law enforcement, medically examined and treated by a pediatric abuse specialist, prepared for trial, and clinically counseled in English or Spanish—all under one roof.

Funder Collaborative for Immigrant Families in the Garden State used CFNJ funding to solidify its role as a convener of pooled/aligned grantmaking that builds capacity in the immigrant-serving nonprofit community and advances economic, legal and racial justice for the more than 500,000 undocumented residents of New Jersey. - The New Jersey Institute for Social Justice uses cutting-edge racial and social justice advocacy to empower people of color by building reparative systems that create wealth, transform justice and harness democratic power—from the ground up—in New Jersey.
- New Jersey Policy Perspective is a nonpartisan think tank that drives policy change to advance economic, social, and racial justice through evidence-based, independent research, analysis, and strategic communications.
- Sound Start Babies ensures that infants and toddlers identified with hearing loss and their families receive the highest quality, research-validated educational services, with the goal of these children developing language, speech, and communication skills commensurate with those of hearing peers and for their parents and other caregivers to have the information and strategies to foster this development throughout childhood.
