Fundholder Takes on the Nonprofit Retirement Challenge

November 2, 2017

One of the Community Foundation’s longtime fundholders is driving an effort to improve nonprofit employee retirement packages with an eye to increasing long-term resources for employees, nonprofit effectiveness, and employee retention. Charities and their boards are heeding his call. As the video explains, the Baltimore Chesapeake Bay Outward Bound School recently doubled their employer match. As a result, the organization saw morale and individual retirement savings increase across the organization.

“Every nonprofit in the country faces this dilemma,” said one Outward Bound Board member. “And the donors to every nonprofit in the country have the same power our donor has to incite change. We challenge the donors out there and we challenge the boards out there to make a difference.”

If you are working with nonprofits that want to improve their retirement plans for their employees, we at the Community Foundation can connect you with some of the options available.
