Maslow Scholarship Program Announces Sophia Bald as 2025 College Scholarship Recipient

Morristown, NJ, July 8, 2025 — The Jonathan Maslow Scholarship program is thrilled to announce that Sophia Bald, a graduate of Red Bank Regional High School (RBRHS), is the recipient of its 2025 college scholarship. She plans to enroll at Lafayette College in the fall.

“I am passionate about computer science and committed to pursuing a career in the field. My experiences, like developing an app in class and competing in CyberPatriot and Capture the Flag events, have fueled my drive to learn,” wrote Sophia in her application. “Being a student-athlete has taught me discipline and time management, which I’ll carry with me into college as I major in Computer Science and play Division 1 tennis.”

The Community Foundation of New Jersey administers the scholarship program, which aims to help students achieve their educational and career goals. Scholarships are awarded to students exhibiting exceptionally high levels of written proficiency; creativity and originality; and interest in local or national environmental causes, journalism, or creative writing.

According to the Scholarship Committee, “Jonathan Maslow was a member of the Red Bank High School Class of 1966, a journalist, and an author. The scholarship was organized and funded by a committee of his classmates and his mother. The committee has awarded 14 scholarships of $5,000 each since inception.”

The scholarship is open to RBRHS students in grades 11-12 who plan to continue their education at an accredited two- or four-year college immediately following graduation. The program will open the application period for the 2026 scholarship in February 2026.
