Every year, the Community Foundation awards a number of scholarships to students in true financial need from some of New Jersey’s most challenged communities. We continue to be amazed by the quality of the applications we receive from these students, many of whom have overcome extremely difficult circumstances to excel in school and bring their dreams of college education within reach. Their last remaining hurdle is the tremendous financial burden of higher education.
Despite all we do here at the Community Foundation, the number of exceptional students in need continues to rise and we are unable to provide scholarships for each worthy applicant. That is why we launched the Scholarship Opportunity Fund to support the higher education of students who have already been vetted by our scholarship committees.
Give to the Scholarship Opportunity Fund via your DONOR ADVISED FUND
The Scholarship Opportunity Fund brings higher education within reach for New Jersey students like K.L. who would be the first in her family to graduate college but is struggling to support her family in the wake of her father’s death and is contemplating postponing her fall semester, or J.C. who describes college as an opportunity to flee her “hopeless” neighborhood and help other people use painful experiences like her own to empower themselves and learn.
