The Community Foundation of New Jersey is pleased to welcome Ashley Steinhart of Lowenstein Sandler and David Posner of Posner & Kramer to its Legal, Wealth & Tax Advisory Committee.
For more than four decades, Ashley Steinhart has counseled some of the most prominent families in America. Their identities must be guarded; however, they control over $10 billion in assets ranging from interests in public and private companies to poker salons, intellectual property, thoroughbred horses, significant art and other collectibles, private foundations, extensive real estate holdings, sports and entertainment projects.
Over the years, Ashley’s relationships with many of his clients have evolved to such a degree that he has become a true family ambassador for those he works with. In fact, many of his relationships are in their second or third generation, and he is often asked for advice on sensitive matters, even those that are outside of his professional zone. Ashley’s clients know that he cares and will do everything possible to guide them, and that he will fight to protect his clients’ intentions in the rare instance when a dispute arises in administering a trust or estate. His extensive involvement in fiduciary litigation matters has also made Ashley a more adept counselor because he is sensitive to the points of confrontation that may occur after a client’s death.
Fiduciary litigation is where Ashley really excels. He, along with his incredible team, has consistently met or exceeded clients’ goals. Click below to see a partial list of Ashley’s representative engagements.

He is a member of the Essex County, New Jersey State and American Bar Associations; the American Health Lawyers Association, Estate Planning Council of Northern New Jersey, Inc., and National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. Posner was President and Secretary of the New Jersey Society of Hospital Attorneys. He is a member of the Bioethics Committee of Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville, New Jersey.
By guiding philanthropic families, members of the Community Foundation’s Legal, Wealth, and Tax Advisory Committee play a pivotal role in strengthening the power of New Jersey’s charitable organizations. The Community Foundation works one-on-one with these legal, wealth, and tax advisors to connect charitable clients with the most advantageous options to instill change in their communities and enduring values in their families.
