Giving Tuesday has become a national day of philanthropy – a day to think about organizations doing great work to make our communities and the world we live in a better place. This Giving Tuesday, there are so many ways you can contribute resources to worthy causes and institutions. In case you are looking for a few good ideas, here are three of our favorite initiatives.
INCREASE THE NUMBER OF EDUCATIONAL FIELD TRIPS
We know from experience and data that field trips have the power to awaken, hush, and awe our students, and ultimately put them on a path toward higher test scores, better grades, and even higher incomes later in life. Help us build the Field Trip New Jersey endowment and ensure even more New Jersey students can connect classroom learning with real-life experiences. HELP MORE YOUNG PEOPLE EXPERIENCE WINTER SPORTS
For too many young people in our state, the coming months mean being cooped up with fewer opportunities to get outside. Our Warm Jacket Fund changes that dynamic, bringing students from under-served communities to the National Winter Activity Center in Sussex County where they get to experience the thrills of downhill skiing (and one-on-one mentorship). To fund a bus trip to the Center, donate online or with your Donor Advised Fund.
STEM THE TIDE OF NEW JERSEY’S OPIATE EPIDEMIC
In partnership with the Mental Health Association in New Jersey, we are working to ensure the statewide recovery helpline is available for addicts and their families who have nowhere else to turn. To ensure this critical service is available in 2017 – and to finally stem the tide of this awful epidemic – donate online or with your Donor Advised Fund.
