Faith Krueger, the Community Foundation’s COO and scholarship coordinator, welcomed attendees and emphasized the Community Foundation’s role as a full resource to students – beyond just financial aid. Students are always welcome to contact Faith, Kevin Anthony, or Colleen Smith with questions or concerns about their scholarship or any other aspect of the college experience. Students are also encouraged to visit the Community Foundation’s scholarship page for the latest on application or renewal deadlines, as well as interesting articles on succeeding in college.
Next, Cynthia Aiken and Mike Pappachristou from RegentAtlantic Capital spoke about student finances and the best ways to manage one’s money in college and beyond.
To conclude the event, a panel of past scholarship recipients – including Brittany Beckley from Kenyon College, Titilope Ogunsola from Dickinson College, and Dessa Reed from The College of New Jersey – spoke about their own experiences in college and strategies for staying on top of the workload while having fun.
Students came away from the nearly three-hour breakfast with many new learnings and friends, as well as significantly more confidence as they head to college for the first time. The annual scholarship breakfast is a popular Community Foundation event, and an example of the wrap-around support we feel is necessary to help scholars succeed.
