Justin Wozniak of Maplewood recently shared with the Community Foundation of New Jersey that he is intent on “making the most of all the opportunities [he] will encounter [in his] upcoming junior year and beyond” – and his schedule certainly backs that up.
The Providence College student – who is currently studying abroad in London – worked two demanding jobs over the summer so that he can not only study at the prestigious university, but also participate in its Special Olympics program and orientation for incoming classes.
Organizing a Special Olympics basketball event was especially meaningful to Justin who said, “it was an incredible experience to cheer on the participants and call out their names over the loudspeakers as they ran up and down the court. The memories of the players smiling and laughing…will always be something that I fondly remember.”
In addition to these commitments, Justin is an on-campus radio host and recently participated in the PWC case competition, which models real-world business scenarios faced by companies all over the world.
Justin’s eagerness to make the most of these opportunities made him an ideal recipient of the Elsie E. and Joseph W. Beck Scholarship, which emphasizes character, promise, and potential.
Reflecting on his time in London, Justin said that “my semester abroad has been a truly unforgettable and formative experience, and it would not have been possible without the continuous support of CFNJ. Living in a multinational city, I have encountered diverse perspectives and have engaged in academically stimulating conversations with both my work colleagues and new friends. I am inspired to bring all that I have learned here back home with me to the States, determined to maintain that openness to others and work on developing new connections with my peers in order to get closer to my personal goals.”
