The Community Foundation of New Jersey (CFNJ) announced today that Crystal West Edwards — a Principal at Porzio, Bromberg & Newman, P.C., in Morristown — has joined its Board of Trustees.
Crystal serves in Porzio’s Wealth Preservation Group, where she counsels seniors, individuals with disabilities, and their families on issues related to complex estate and tax planning. She is highly experienced in the areas of asset preservation, fiduciary appointments, and representation.
She also advises financial institutions and corporate fiduciaries on judicial and administrative accountings; provides counsel on initial or continued means-tested government benefits eligibility for its trust beneficiaries; and has expertise in elder law, special needs planning and advocacy, and estate administration.
Porzio, a full-service law firm founded in 1962, has over 90 attorneys in offices across Morristown, Trenton, and Ocean City, NJ; New York, NY; Westborough, MA; Wilmington, DE; Philadelphia, PA; and San Juan, Puerto Rico. The firm provides legal services in corporate, employment, litigation, bankruptcy and restructuring, intellectual property and trademark, real estate, and other areas. It also serves clients ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 corporations, as well as public and private organizations.
“Crystal’s extensive technical and legal background will be invaluable to us as the Foundation continues to expand in the area of legacy philanthropy and guides our fundholders on the best ways to maximize their philanthropic giving,” said Harry O’Mealia, Chairman of CFNJ’s Board of Trustees. “We are thrilled that she’s joining the Board and looking forward to partnering with her to ensure the Foundation makes a civic impact that benefits our communities.”
In addition to being a well-known speaker who has authored many publications, Crystal is a Fellow to the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and serves as co-chair of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Garden State Bar Foundation and is a member of the National Bar Association, Real Property Trust and Estate Section.
“I am honored to join the Board of Trustees at the Community Foundation of New Jersey,” Crystal said. “CFNJ’s commitment to strengthening communities through philanthropy aligns with my passion for empowering individuals and families to create lasting legacies. I look forward to contributing to the Foundation’s mission and helping fundholders maximize their impact.”
