NJ Recovery Fund Seeks Project Manager

The New Jersey Recovery Fund is a joint effort among local and national foundations, New Jersey corporations, and individuals to provide support to New Jersey’s communities and nonprofit organizations that are affected by or responding to Hurricane Sandy. The Fund will make grants to local organizations and communities as they lead and participate in recovery efforts throughout the state.

The Fund, which is administered by the Morristown-based Community Foundation of New Jersey, is looking for a leader to provide part-time project management in support of the goals of the grants from the Fund. This temporary position will run from approximately June 2013 through June 2014. This position will require extensive travel within New Jersey.

Specific Duties include:

  • implementing recommendations for coordinating the work of NJ Recovery Fund grantees toward greater collective impact
  • facilitating ongoing coordination among the Fund’s grantees
  • planning and facilitating NJ Recovery Fund grantee group convenings
  • supporting administrative needs, such as grant reports, and other written communications with funders and grantees
  • organizing meetings (both in person and on the phone)

Other responsibilities will be required as the Fund evolves to respond to the needs of impacted communities.

  • knowledge of effective communications and organizational tools suitable for a large group
  • ability to work independently on detail-oriented tasks
  • ability to prioritize work efforts
  • technologically savvy and proficient with social media
  • ability to see where help is needed and willingness to pitch in where necessary
  • goal-oriented
  • flexibility, patience, and a sense of humor

Specific Qualifications:

  • college degree
  • leadership experience in nonprofit sector
  • background in the community planning and development, arts, environment, and media a plus
  • experience working in or with the philanthropic sector
  • community engagement experience

Compensation: $40,000 (approximately 20 hours/week). No benefits.
