The Ruth Gottscho Kidney Foundation
On January 1, 2020, The Ruth Gottscho Kidney Foundation became a fund affiliated with the Community Foundation of New Jersey. We will be better able to sustain our work into the future while maintaining our existing mission — to make the dream of summer camp a reality for children with kidney disorders. We look forward to benefiting from the Community Foundation’s philanthropic expertise, administrative support, and technical know-how to ensure your contribution is having the greatest possible impact.

Ruth Gottscho was 15 years old when she died of kidney disease in 1960 – before dialysis was widely available. That same year, her parents founded the Ruth Gottscho Kidney Foundation (RGKF) to help other New Jersey kidney patients. For several years the RGKF helped purchase home dialysis machines for families who could not afford this life-saving equipment.
When Medicare began paying for much of the treatment kidney patients needed, the RGKF focused on finding a way to help children with kidney disorders attend summer camp – a dream of Ruth’s that wasn’t possible during her lifetime.
Donate Here
Your donation will enable us to sustain our mission – to make the dream of sleep-away summer camp a reality for kids with kidney disorders. As of January 1, 2020, your valued gift will be earmarked for this purpose through CFNJ – a highly-respected non-profit that will manage the assets of The Ruth Gottscho Kidney Foundation. Your contribution will continue to subsidize our program as it has for over 45 years. When you donate online, your gift will go directly to supporting kidney campers through The Ruth Gottscho Kidney Foundation, as it always has. Thank you for your continued assistance.
